Keep It Real

Having Life's Challenging Discussions

For Health & Well-being

To Create A Better World

Why This, Why Now

My name is Ravi Lescher and I believe that if you don't discuss the hard stuff, the challenges of life, they end up controlling you. And I think our fear to "show up" and have challenging but respectful discussions is keeping the cycle of dysfunction continuing - on both a personal and societal level.

I grew up in the suburbs where "keeping up with the Jones'" meant putting a nice face on things and hiding and feeling ashamed of the messy bits of life. I remember as a child desperately wishing that the adults would start dealing with their problems so that my family could be happier and more functional. And now, as a middle-aged woman, I live again in a community where I find that many feel the need to keep up appearances and that honest discussion is hard to come by.

And I worry about the well-being of those around me. And I worry about the children. And I worry about the world. Because individuals make up families, and families make up communities, and communities make up the world.

And my hope is that in learning to get REAL with each other, we can shine a light in the shadows of the all-too-real human experiences so that we become healthier, more united, and who knows... perhaps we can help change the world.

Please feel free to comment on my posts. And I know that MY reality, based on MY life experiences, may be different from yours. So while this is a place to connect, it is also a place to respectfully discuss our disagreements so that we may better understand each other.

So let's Keep It Real...

As a mother with a child still at home, I am constantly apalled by stories in the news on pedophilia - the Catholic church, Boy Scouts, Michael Jackson, etc. And being a crime junkie, the sheer number of cases against children is horrific.

What I don't understand is wh...

In this busy world, so many of us can APPEAR busy constantly, and we crave more alone time than we get. But the reality is also that what we crave are DEEPER connections, rather than the busy, superficial connections of today's modern world.

Today I came across a wonder...

This phase of life can throw women off their centers... in SO many ways. One of them is through disturbed sleep. This isn't the disturbed sleep when you have a new baby (thank god!!), but it is a sleep that keeps your from feeling rested, one that wakes you up a few ti...

Loving this author/motivational speaker lately. It's kind of a "Just Do It" mentality to "lean in" and ACT on your intuitions/inner voices that lead to your higher purpose. Those inner voices that tell you what you want, that will lead you to a path with more meaning a...

So many of us think about change: How can I change who I am? How can I change what work I do? How can I strive to be a better person?

These internal questions that whisper to us behind the constant doings of life, are voices of change. Asking to be heard, to be validate...

"In terms of the Heroine's Journey, a woman who has over identified with the masculine culture has sacrificed something of great value to herself-her feeling and creative functions- which she must then journey inward to reclaim." Maureen Murdock, The Heroine’s Journey
